Yoshito Tanaka and Shun Hashiyada (Hokkaido University) have theoretically proposed and experimentally demonstrated a new method that can modulate right- and left- handed optical vortices at much higher frequencies than conventional methods. This allows to precisely measure the interactions between optical vortices with spin and orbital angular momentum and chiral matter, opening a new field of chiral matter science.
