Hiromasa Niinomi (Tohoku University) and Tomoya Oshikiri (Tohoku University) has published a collaborative research article in The Journal of Physical Chemistry Letters.

The group led by Assistant Professor Hiromasa Niinomi (Publicly offered research C) and Associate Professor Tomoya Oshikiri (Planned research B02), Institute of Multidisciplinary Research for Advanced Materials, Tohoku University, has discovered that sodium chlorate (NaClO3) chiral crystallization on a Mie-resonant silicon metasurface excited by circularly polarized laser whose near-field is expected to show enhanced optical chirality resulted in statistically significant large crystal enantiomeric excess which cannot be attained merely by circularly polarized laser.
This result was published in the academic journal “The Journal of Physical Chemistry Letters” on February 11, 2024.
