The group led by Professor Makoto Tsubota of Osaka Metropolitan University, has conducted numerical simulations on the interaction between quantized vortices and normal fluid in liquid 4He in a superfluid state at extremely low temperatures.
They compared their findings with experimental results from Florida State University and determined the most consistent model from several theoretical models.
The research has resolved a problem that has been unsolved in the field of low-temperature physics for decades.
These results were published in the academic journal ‘Nature Communications’ on May 15, 2023.
